Quite a few of the ladies in the campaign are hurt because of comments slighting us ladies. So first off I'm going to flat out say, I have never wished and WILL never send a death thread to RTD OR BBC. MOST of the people involved in the SaveIantoJones campaign HAVEN'T. Just because there are a few extremely hysterical people does not mean EVERYONE who is involved in the campaign is.
Next I want to say, to those of you who are making fun of us. Please stop it. We are human beings and we do have lives ourselves. I'm a 24 year old mother of 3 who has been married to a lovely man for 6 years. I buy and support the BBC through my purchases. I bought Seasons 1 and 2 of Torchwood and will be purchasing CoE also. I also own some action figures from Torchwood. I help support the channel and the show.
Now do I want Ianto Jones back? Yes. Am I sad? Yes. Is that the only reason I think if they have a season 4 that they need to undo some of Children of Earth? No. I've had other much loved characters from television die that I liked and I could continue to support the show. I'm a HUGE HUGE NCIS fan and I ADORED Kate with everything in me. Ziva is ok but she's no Kate but I still watch.
However, continuing in this thought. Torchwood would not be able to continue and still be the same show that we all love without them undoing some things from CoE. Children of Earth I think was originally supposed to be the End of Torchwood, and that's how it is written. First off Tosh and Owen died at the end of Season 2, which puts us down 2 characters already. Then Ianto dies beautifully and the producers and writers went out of their way to make a heart wrenching painful to watch death scene. So beautiful but so painful in it's beauty also.
Then if that weren't enough, Jack sacrificed his grandson for the greater good and in his grief left the planet. Gwen is about to be a mom, and lets be serious here, a mom with a job like Torchwood. She would have to drastically cut down her work hours, she'd be thinking of perhaps dying and leaving her child any time she went out and did any field work. So that leaves 1 realistically full time person, Jack.
But then there's the fact that Jack FLED the planet itself in his grief and guilt. It's highly unlikely he'd just magickally come back a year or two later and be fine. No way, even for someone immortal. We all know how Jack internalizes his pain. Can you all seriously tell me flat out that you think he'd come back when there is really nothing to come back to? He has an entire immense universe and thousands of years he could go to, why why why would he come back to such a painful time in his life? Jack runs... it's what he does.
So while yes I know there are some fans that would probably continue to watch I know a lot of fans wouldn't, because it either wouldn't make sense or would make all the pain and suffering that happened in Season 3 seen cheap somehow.
Then there is the fact that RTD has said numerous times he can just make up new characters and kill them off willy nilly. I'm going to say this as simply as I can, people watch telly shows because they get involved in the characters and plot lines. They CARE about what happens to the characters. Knowing that a writer of a show says flat out that he can just write new ones without a care and kill them off again is VERY off putting. It makes it very hard to get attached to the characters and that makes the shows loose some of their magic. And watching a show when you feel nothing for the characters is like watching those old black and white educational videos in school. You just don't care and keep thinking to yourself 'Is this over YET'.... it would be meaningless.
So to finally wrap this up. I do think they should bring Ianto back, it would give Jack reason TO come back and the show REASON to continue. It would make sense. If they don't bring him back I truthfully would prefer there to not be a season 4.
So there you have it, a coherent (well as much as there can be written at 3:30 am lol) opinion from a member of SaveIantoJones.com and someone who has participated in other campaigns in the past.

The sea was usually a place of great calm for him. However, not this night. Tonight the gentle warm breeze upon his skin seemed colder then a pineapple smoothie. The moon's reflection in the lapping waves was so bright it burned his eyes and the gentle sound of the waves breaking upon the shore was deafening to his ears.
He had always known it would not last but he’d gotten comfortable. He loved working with everyone from the SBPD, and one particular detective in particular. Today it had all come crashing down around his feet. He had seen the gentle warmth that sometimes was directed his way in the blue gaze ice over. As if a physical wall had been shoved between them.
Turning he headed back towards his bike, bag over his shoulder. With one final backwards glance towards the seaside he sped off. With only the sea and the warm ocean air embracing the soft words left behind.
